The pencil holder is made up from four identical laser-cut clear acrylic; these four pieces are joined together by a single elastic string, forming the singular disordered pattern.
During the creative process many combinations were explored, both for the rigid support configuration and also for the elastic cord arrangement
The cord arrangement needs to be dense enough to hold markers and pencils but also loose enough to bear more than a couple of markers.
The “controlled chaos” idea is reinforced by the formal contrast between the two sole materials used in the product; almost a literal translation from the initial design concept.
